The commercial expedition industry is an exciting and fulfilling one but is not easy to get into. At the same time, outside of the commercial sector, people can find themselves in an expedition or fieldwork leadership role without the back up or training they may like. This course aims to provide people with a grounding in how the industry works and a basis in the hard and soft skills required.
This one day course combines looking at opportunities
in the expedition sector with an overview of the hard
and soft skills required to work in the industry.
For those interested in learning more about getting
into and on in the expedition sector we will look at
structures for qualifications and the opportunities available. We will also use scenario based exercises to look at the soft skills which are vital in leading and organising expeditions.
It is appropriate for:
- Leaders who have worked in the outdoors (for example
through the military or in outdoor education) and
want to get into expedition work.
- People who have done an expedition as a team member
and are interested in getting to the next stage.
- Students interested in running their own expeditions
and considering getting into the industry.
